Now I've been after Rick for about a year now to come up with some kind of bio on his car. Well, I’m tired of waiting. So hear is my bastardized version of the stuff he has told me about Oblio.
The name Oblio comes from a very odd childrens video narrated by Ringo Star. The story is about a small town where the town’s charter reads “Everything must have a point”. Taking the wording literally, everything in the town ended in a sharp point of some kind, including everyone’s heads.
Now Oblio was born with a round head. Not fitting into the town ideal, he finds himself banished to the pointless forest. During his journey, he learns the moral of the story which is: You don’t need a point, to have a point.
An entertaining little flick. I give it three stars. Thumbs up.
Anyway, one of the pervious owners thought it was the perfect name for a beetle. It stuck.

Oblio’s story doesn’t stop there. When Rick took possession of the car (for only $1 and a promise to get it the hell out of the previous owners yard) he decided to work on an idea he had been toying with for awhile. The idea was, without major body work, to make a VW beetle look like a Lamborghini. The result is the pictured Lam-Bug-Ghini.

But somewhere during the conversion, Rick gazed at his creation, and decided that it looked more like a shuttle craft from the Star Trek universe. So recent additions and modifications have sent it more in the direction of NCC1701-VW.

Plans for the future? You have to ask Rick. But I can tell you one thing, this little bug looks a little different every time I see it.
