A plug for Bug Tales.
It started with an e-mail forwarded to me by a friend and fellow Palmetto Bug member Monique.
The message was sent pimping yet another VW book. I figured it was one in a long line of picture books, counted it as spam, and nearly deleted the message.
Then the greed kicked in. They promised a free copy of the book in exchange for posting review of it at The Palmetto Bugs web site. Never one to pass up something free; I send off my address and promised to give it a once over. At the very least it would be an opportunity to rant on the state of modern literature and its lack of creativity.
Bug Tales arrived in the mail roughly a week later.
Bug Tales isn't a picture book.
Bug Tales is a collection of stories, told by the people who lived them, staring everyone's favorite car.
If you have ever owned, driven, gotten a ride in, been related to, or simply knew someone with a vintage Beetle; this book is a must have for you. I guarantee you will find something very familiar between its covers.
If I had to find a fault, it would be in the way most of stories end in a Volkswagen being given up for one questionable reason or another. Am I the only one who has pledged to hold on to his beloved bug forever?
Its a great book. Buy yourself a copy.
Visit the web site too. I imagine there is sequel in the works and there is a place to enter a story of your own.
I know I'm going to. The seat fire tale alone is epic...
